Plan Now for Discovery Days in 2009

Plan ahead to visit the sanctuary in 2009 during our Chimpanzee Discovery Days. The public is invited to attend these open houses on the following dates:
March 21 | 9 a.m. until noon |
April 18 | 9 a.m. until noon |

June 20 | 9 a.m. until noon |

Sept 19 | 9 a.m. until noon |

During Discovery Day guests have the opportunity to observe the chimpanzees in their natural forested habitats and tour the sanctuary using the groomed trails with overlooks and generous views of the two five- acre habitats from across the barrier moat.
During this once-a-month event, there are activities for all ages as well as educational opportunities for the entire family. Staff members will be on hand for “Chimp Chats” to discuss chimpanzee behavior and medical care, the housing and feeding of the chimpanzees and answer questions about their care at the sanctuary.
The event is free and open to everyone; however donations are welcome and gratefully accepted. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. It is recommended that guests arrive early for the best viewing of the chimpanzees since, like humans, the chimpanzees prefer to rest in the shade of the forest during the warm afternoon hours.
