Chimpanzee Discovery Days give guests who visit Chimp Haven on selected days the opportunity to observe the chimpanzees in their natural, forested habitats across a water moat. A large viewing area provides everyone with an unobstructed view. During the once-a-month, informal education event, there are entertaining and educational opportunities for the entire family. Chimp Haven staff is on hand to greet visitors and talk about the chimpanzees. Chimpanzee Discovery Days are from 9 a.m. until noon, from March – June and September – November. Each month focuses on a different theme to give guests a unique experience each time they visit.
After Chimpanzee Discovery Days, pre-registered visitors are invited to Chimp Chat & Chew, a program that enables guests to get a more intimate look at the chimpanzees and personal access to Chimp Haven staff. Guests receive a behind-the-scenes tour, an informative presentation by one of our professional staff, a catered lunch, and an up-close-and-personal look at our residents. Reservations are required for Chimp Chat & Chew. Fees support Chimp Haven’s education program. Chimp Chat & Chew is held after Chimpanzee Discovery Day from 12:00pm – 2:00pm. See our Events page for more information.
