Chimpanzees grow quickly from adorable, helpless babies to strong, willful adults who are seven times stronger than a human and can weigh more than 200 pounds. Chimpanzees kept as pets or used in entertainment have short careers - by the time they reach puberty at 7-10 years of age, they are usually unmanageable. These chimpanzees who were spoiled and treated as a member of the household as youngsters often find themselves locked in a cage, garage or basement for the next 40-50 years of their life.

Right now, there are chimpanzees suffering from neglect, living in solitary confinement, enduring a lack of adequate food and in need of medical attention. They are waiting to move from substandard facilities to their new home in the forested acres of Keithville, Louisiana. They need your help to come home to Chimp Haven!  Immediate intervention is needed.  Chimp Haven has already rescued seven chimpanzees who are now thriving under our care. Many more wait.
