On the morning of February 14th, one of the caregivers was performing a morning check when she saw something out of the ordinary. Flora, one of the female chimps, revealed a REAL, newborn baby girl!

Here at Chimp Haven our residents spend a significant part of each day playing with each other and playing with the carestaff.

There are many activities here at Chimp Haven that the chimpanzees like to participate in, and one of the preferred entertainments is painting. They paint just like we do – with a paint brush, non-toxic paint, and a canvas.

At Chimp Haven Inc., mirrors are given to the chimpanzees as enrichment. It is thrilling every time to watch the reactions of the chimps when mirrors are put up.

Every day at Chimp Haven the chimpanzees get some type of enrichment. Enrichment is used to entertain and to occupy the chimpanzees. On Sunday, the chimpanzees were given articles of clothing.

At Chimp Haven, we have an extensive training program with the goal of teaching our chimpanzees to present specific body parts to enable the best veterinary care.

Most visitors to Chimp Haven enjoy viewing our chimpanzees wandering happily through our two forested habitats but what they don’t realize is how timid the chimps can be when the doors to the habitat are opened for the first time.

What a joy it was to watch the chimpanzees open their presents!

With cold mornings presenting themselves at Chimp Haven, the care staff has begun giving out extra blankets to the chimpanzees.

Pant hoots and food barks filled the air as the chimpanzees received their pumpkins.
